چکیده

Across the globe, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a commonly used vegetable for culinary purposes. Despite its economic importance, production decreasing now days due to occurrence of various abiotic stresses like drought. Hence, it important understand mechanism drought tolerance sustain production. A field experiment was conducted with tolerant and susceptible genotypes or susceptibility. Drought stress imposed during flowering stage 19 days. The physiological traits relative water content, pigmentation, flower abscission percentage fruit set were recorded. results showed that content decreased by 20.47 % in SL CBE G 26 40.98 23. However, drop highest line 23 (23.29%) lowest (19.14 %) under stress. had lower than 26. study confirmed associated increased retention tissue, eventually resulting percentage.

Cold tolerance in Osmotin transgenic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is associated with modulation in transcript abundance of stress responsive genes

Our containment trials have established cold tolerance in Nicotiana tabacum osmotin (Nt Osm) transgenic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. Pusa Ruby). Though, the stress tolerance mechanisms have been studied at physio-biochemical levels, molecular mechanisms underlying the tolerant response are still not well studied. Therefore, quantitative transcript expression of Osmotin and other stress r...

Acclimation to Drought Stress Enhances Oxidative Stress Tolerance in Solanum lycopersicum L. Fruits

A moderate water deficit stress (S1) applied 10 days after anthesis was found to induce acclimation to a subsequent more severe drought stress (S2) in Solanum lycopersicum L.. When plants were pretreated with S1, and then subjected to S2, fruit water status remained similar to controls. In contrast, S2 induced a decrease in both parameters of water status and diameter of fruits from non-acclima...

The Solanum lycopersicum WRKY3 Transcription Factor SlWRKY3 Is Involved in Salt Stress Tolerance in Tomato

Salinity threatens productivity of economically important crops such as tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). WRKY transcription factors appear, from a growing body of knowledge, as important regulators of abiotic stresses tolerance. Tomato SlWRKY3 is a nuclear protein binding to the consensus CGTTGACC/T W box. SlWRKY3 is preferentially expressed in aged organs, and is rapidly induced by NaCl, KCl,...

Identification and expression analysis of YABBY family genes associated with fruit shape in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).

YABBY family genes play important roles in the development of leaf, flower, and fruit. The purpose of this research was to integrate all the YABBY genes and analyze the correlation between gene expression and fruit shape in tomato. Scanning of 24 genomes of sequenced species demonstrated that YABBY genes were very normal and stable in flowering plants except the seedless plants. Nine YABBY gene...

Molecular Insights Reveal Psy1, SGR, and SlMYB12 Genes are Associated with Diverse Fruit Color Pigments in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).

The color of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruit flesh is often used as an indicator of quality. Generally, fruit color is determined by the accumulation of carotenoids and flavonoids, along with concomitant degradation of chlorophylls during ripening. Several genes, such as phytoenesynthetase1 (Psy1), STAY-GREEN (SGR), and SlMYB12, have been extensively studied to elucidate the genes controlli...
